(What I Draw!)

Most of my art tends around animals, anthromorphics (which are animals with human characteristics such as walking on two legs etc) and Were-animals. I also enjoy drawing monsters, demons and mythical creatures especially since you have a larger amount of freedom with such drawings. I tend to draw more realistic animals only when I'm practicing or when I need to get out of an Art Funk. I use photos as references as this helps me to get the detail and proportions.

I rarely draw people and avoid backgrounds as I end up trying to do too much detail which then slows down the art work and more often than not ruins it, and if there's one thing I'm not... it's patient with myself!!

[Ratings]
(Who It's Suitable For)

I'm not a yiffy artist, I find no interest in drawing sexual artwork and though my characters are mainly depicted without clothes, I find no need to draw sexual detail. I do sometimes have blood, wounds or death in my artwork though never on such a graphic level that it would 'shock or offend' though since I post on DeviantArt I do mark such works as 'Mature'. Even in my Art Trades and Commissions, I am willing to draw violence (though I have limits to what I do regarding this) and am okay with tasteful nudes.

[Skills]
(How I learnt My Shit)

I'm self taught as I think most artists are. My father and both grandfathers had a great skill in art, though they all seemed to lean towards painting which I struggle with. My early art was critiqued and 'corrected' by my dad who has a good eye for detail. As with most people, I found School to be a total waste for teaching art. In fact we rarely did any kind of drawing so I never took any classes beyond the compulsory ones in High School.

I don't really use 'guiding' circles nor do I lean my art to specific styling such as The Lion King etc. I usually start by drawing the eyes or nose first (strange place to begin I know!) If it's a full body anthormorphic image I will sometimes sketch out the body outline first. Other than that, its all kinda... unplanned! ;p

I'm what's known as a Traditional Artist as I use paper, pencil and colouring pencils rather than drawing/colouring my artwork on a computer. Two reasons for this, I like this method and when I do try my hand at CG colouring I usually get wrist cramp and fuck it up :p

[Criticism]
(Finding The Flaws)

I'm aware that my art is never perfect (who's is!) I know that my proportions and perceptions aren't always right but remember I do NOT draw in hope of making a career out of it. This is a hobby to me and I always try to better myself but I'm not going to draw 24/7 in order to do that. I have a life. I'm fine with constructive criticism, though some days I'm just not in the mood for it. Here's were DevArt's Criticism Discouraged button comes in handy! :)

[Usage]
(If and When you can use my stuff!)

Rule One: ASK FOR MY PERMISSION!!! Is it SO hard to email me and enquire? If I'm happy with what you wanna use it for, I'll say yes!

Rule Two: ALWAYS KEEP MY SIGNATURE ON!! Unless I've allowed you to remove it for whatever reason, it MUST remain and be visible!

Rule Three: LINK BACK TO MY SO PEOPLE KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM!!! I don't think that's asking too much!

If you wish to use my art as reference to help you with your own artistic learning, that’s okay as long as you give me props. That means... give me credit for acting as a reference to help. CITE YOUR REFERENCES! Do not trace, copy or redesign my art or characters. When dealing with artwork and artists, there is one clear rule – be respectful of their copyright.

[Art Theft]
(Nasty Bastards who steal!)

I do not tolerate art theft, I will call you on it, petition to whatever web host you are using to get you kicked off and pass your name around to anyone and everyone. Obviously when you steal art you think the artist is good, you want to have that kind of ability… but remember stealing it, makes you lower than scum to the artist you admire so much.

Of course, there are now new thieves who are even worse (yes it is possible!) who are so unbelievably pathetic, that they don’t just steal the artwork outright, they even steal the artist’s identity. To those people, I say you need help…serious psychiatric help. The fact you hate your life SO much that you steal someone else’s… *shakes head* there is something seriously wrong with you.

And you will be caught, may take a while but there are so many real fans and good hearted people who keep an eye out for disgusting thieves. You will be found and we will make your lives hell. Respect artists and their ©, don’t steal!

The worst thing is that I know the majority of artists especially Were, Anthro & Furry artists don’t just draw anything, they draw characters, representations of themselves and their friends. This makes their art even more personal. Oh and that line “Imitation is the highest form of flatter” is bullshit! Especially when it comes to completely imitating or copying someone’s art and/or life etc.

Quick Rundown Don’t save and redistribute other peoples art. Make sure the artist allows you to use their artwork for references if you want to. Never remove an artist’s signature if you are allowed to use/display their artwork. Never take credit for someone else’s art. Never copy or trace the artwork and claim it as yours. If you use another’s artwork to better your own, such as in the form of a reference, give the artist credit. Do not alter another person’s artwork. Do not pretend to be someone else!!!! most artists are lovely people, try ASKING them for help with your own art rather than just stealing...
